Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan (Short-term)

Overview

This program allows researchers employed at Japanese universities and other research institutions to invite fellow researchers from other countries to Japan to participate in cooperative activities at their research institutions.

Eligibility

Be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan

Be a researcher in a position equivalent to a university professor, associate professor or assistant professor in Japan, or received a doctorate degree more than 6 years prior.

Duration

14 - 60 days

What we offer

Round-trip air ticket

Daily maintenance allowance of JPY 18,000

Research support allowance of JPY 150,000(maximum)

Overseas travel insurance

How to apply

The application should be submitted to JSPS Tokyo by your host researcher in Japan.

FY2025 application deadlines

1st call: 30 August 2024 (by 5 p.m. (JST))
2nd call: 25 April 2025 (by 5 p.m. (JST))
